I sit there, glaring around the space, hating my lame decorating choices. It’s time for a bathroom update. In addition to my poor decorating skills, I don’t like to spend money. To do a proper bathroom remodel, start by setting a realistic budget. Then, you get to shop for the fun stuff.
Fixtures – These include sink faucets, shower heads, tub and shower faucets. First, pick a finish (chrome, brushed nickel, copper, etc.). The finish should match or complement the theme you’ve picked for the bathroom. Check clearance sections at your local hardware store. Also, online shopping offers a bevy of affordable options. Just remember to take shipping costs into account.
Paint – If you’re on a budget, paint is your new best buddy! Paint should match the theme. A framed picture or photograph adds value to a blank wall. Also, consider wall stencils that can turn a boring wall into a statement that matches your motif.
Mirrors – First, pick a material. Materials for mirrors can be wood, steel, nickel, bronze, etc. Pick a shape that complements the bathroom and gives you plenty of space to see what you need to see. Mirror shapes are typically rectangular, square, round or oval.
Lighting – Bathroom lighting comes in a variety of styles. From simple bulb panels to elaborate bulb covers, bathroom lighting can vastly improve the look of your bathroom. Lighting materials include nickel, chrome, bronze and classic white.
Towel/Curtains – With towels, you can stick to one color or select a palette of colors to use. Towels should match the theme. Types of towels include bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes and decorative. A fluffy bath mat is not only comfortable, but also stylish. You can also find bathroom accessories in matching collections at your local linen store. Shower curtains come in endless styles and textures. Layering curtains with a fabric outlay and internal solid color, can really class up the space.
Make sure you relate back to your budget before and after each purchase. You should also keep track of what you actually spent next to the budgeted amount to make sure you’re staying in the budget.
